Swan School, Port Townsend, WA
Director of educational programs offered at the school while
simultaneously team-teaching a 3-5 intermediate
multiage classroom. In charge of overseeing educational program
and staff while maintaining school vision. Provided educational
direction and input as the school added two new buildings, doubling
the physical size of the campus. Created and implemented staff
evaluation process. Instituted a consistent parent feedback /
survey process in addition to an objective and consistent admissions
process. Led staff in creating and implementing a behavioral
plan which includes consistent school-wide community expectations.
Created and implemented Student Review Team to provide an objective
and colaborative forum to help students who are experiencing
academic, social, or behavioral difficulties. Oversaw adoption
and implementation of mathematics curriculum. Currently leading
staff in refining and updating reading curriculum (06-07). Provide
consistent communication to parents through monthly newsletter
and school-wide parent meetings. Conduct weekly staff meetings.
Help formulate school policies with Board of Directors as well
as implement those policies. Work with board and staff in long
range planning as pertains to educational aspects of the school.

Taught single-grade classrooms for grades
3 and 4. Team-taught a 2-3 multiage classroom. Taught
an intermediate multiage classroom of children in grades 3, 4,
and 5. Was involved in curriculum renewal process as: member
of overseeing Chimacum Curriculum Committee, member of Reading
Subject Area Committee, member of Math Subject Area Committee,
and Chairperson of Social Studies Subject Area Committee. Was
an active member of: Chimacum Elementary School Site Council,
Chimacum Elementary School Improvement Planning Team, Chimacum's
Special Education Partnership Team as well as Talented and Gifted
Team. Instituted Professional Literature Circles.
Taught several teacher inservice classes including: Differentiation,
AppleWorks 6 for Teachers and Students, Use of the Internet,
and Management of Computer Lab. Mentored four student teachers
as well as a number of university practicum students. Created
and maintained websites for the Chimacum Intermediate
Multiage Program and Chimacum Elementary
School.
